FMCG Transport & Distribution Freight

FMCG freight runs on delivery bookings. Retail distribution centres operate strict slot systems, and a vehicle that misses its window can lose most of a day. Transport planning for FMCG is therefore built backwards from the delivery booking rather than forwards from collection.

What we need to quote

  • Pallet count and whether stackable
  • Delivery booking reference and slot time
  • Chilled, frozen or ambient
  • Collection site and loading time
  • Volume per week or month for lane pricing

Practical considerations

  • Missed DC slots can mean rebooking for another day.
  • Chilled lines need reefer capacity and temperature discipline.
  • Recurring retail volume is usually best priced as a contracted lane.
